KNOW MORE ABOUT THE FRENCH APÉRO
In France, ‘apéro‘, short for ‘apéritif’ (appetizer), is sacred. It’s a cultural ritual, one of the #1 pleasure in life. French apéro consists of enjoying a drink (or more) together with nibbles before dinner. It’s not about getting drunk, it’s about spending time together with friends and family to prepare your palate for the meal to follow. There is no need for fancy set up, apéro is a casual affair, where the most important thing is company. And if the atmosphere is pleasant enough, it can also become the dinner itself. In this case, it is called an ‘apéro dinatoire‘.

KNOW MORE ABOUT THE FRENCH DESSERT
In France, we are used to eat something sweet after the meal at home and in restaurants. It can be simple, like yogurt and fruit sprinkled with sugar. It’s often chocolate. But when we don’t have it, we can become sullen. Desserts give pleasure and create a sense of happiness feeling satisfaction. It is a kind of mood booster. And when the choice between different desserts becomes too difficult, there’s always the possibility to opt for a ‘café gourmand‘ that combines espresso (or other hot beverage) with an assortment of miniature desserts.

KNOW MORE ABOUT THE FRENCH DRINKS
In France, we are used to start with an apéritif, where we drink beer, wine, cocktails or soft drinks. We usually continue with wine, white or red, to accompanish the meal. Then we take a hot beverage with or right after the dessert. And we end with a digestive, which help digestion and bring a fresh and fruity note after meal.
